Birthday Present – pretty in pink!

Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you….. one of my best friends turned 40 last week, so it was time to get Flutterby Creating and make something special for her – and this is what I came up with!

Flutterby vase candle holder

I picked up the vase / candle holder (it can be used for either purpose) from Ikea and it stands about 30cm tall. I decided that less was more with this gift and have kept it simple. I made some Flutterby’s (see my flutterby making post for details on how to make them) and wrapped some ribbon around the vase.

The next step was to make a card that matched. I decided to keep the colour scheme the same as the vase. I used the 5 Petal Flower punch to make a cut out in the bottom right hand corner of the card – which you can see through to the inside of the card and I have stamped on the punch and incorporated it into the design!

Birthday Card

What I used:

  • Stamp Sets: Happy Moments, Flight of the Butterfly, Totally Tabs
  • Card: Regal Rose White Vellum, Confetti Cream
  • Ink: Pink Passion, Versa Mark
  • Other: Paper Snips, Butterfly Punch, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Round Tab Punch, Mini Glue Dots, Sticky Strip, 1″ Rose Red Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Aluminum White Circle Metal Edge Tags, Clips Assortment,
  • Non Stampin’ Up!: Ikea Candle Holder / Vase, Bead Wire, Seed Beads, wire cutters

Flutterby candle holders

Flutterby Candle Holder

I picked this candle holder up from dusk a while ago and have been wondering what to do with it. I got together last night with some friends for a “play and create” session and this is the result of my playing!

The butterflies (or should that be Flutterby’s) have been made using the Butterfly Punch from the summer mini catalogue (only available until the 31st March – so if you would like to order one please contact me!), the 5 Petal Flower Punch and some bead wire and beads.

I will post a more detailed tutorial on how to make these stunning flutterby’s during the week. A word of warning though – they are very easy to make so you may get addicted to these cute little guys!

I have used the Happy Moment stamp set from the Sale-a-bration promotion on the vellum. It is a little hard to see in the picture as I have used the Apricot Appeal stamp pad, which has resulted in a very subtle effect.

If you would like to make some candle holders like this and have a fun afternoon with your friends, please contact me to book a workshop.

Don’t forget the butterfly punch is from the Summer Mini Catalogue – so if you love it as much as I do, then you need to act fast as it won’t be available after the 31st March.

What I used:

  • Stamp Sets: Happy Moments
  • Card: Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper, White Vellum, Apricot Appeal
  • Ink: Apricot Appeal
  • Other: Paper Snips, Butterfly Punch, 5 Petal Flower Punch, Mini Glue Dots, Sticky Strip
  • Non Stampin’ Up!: Dusk Candle Holder, Bead Wire, Seed Beads, wire cutters

Until next time – happy Flutterby Creating!

Handbags – a girl can never have too many!

Handbag

For those that know me well, you will know that I LOVE handbags! I don’t want to admit how many I have lurking in my wardrobe…. So when I came across the template for this cute little handbag I knew I had to give it a go!!

The handbag is about 10cm x 10cm in size and could be used to put lots of goodies inside! Inside this one is a gift from me to you if you decide to book a Flutterby Creations Workshop! Please click here for details about holding a workshop or contact me.

These are super easy to make and can be customised for any theme – easter and birthdays spring to mind!

What I used:

  • Stamp Sets: Good Neighbours
  • Card: Pacific Point Textured
  • Ink: Versa Mark, Whisper White
  • Other: Baja Breeze 5/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Paper Snips, Stamp-a-ma-jig
